Biography

Legal career

Baron is one of the founders of Baron & amp; Budd, P.C., Dallas law firm, Texas, and former president of the American Trial Lawyers Association. Fred Baron sells his interest in Baron & amp; Budd and retired from the company in December 2002. The company has previously become one of the largest companies in the country that represent victims of exposure to toxins and chemicals in particular claims of asbestos exposure. As a young lawyer in 1975, the Baron became a pioneer in the adoption of strict liability actions in asbestos litigation using the recently adopted Restatement Second of Torts Section 402a. He represents the workers and widows of workers who died at Tyler, a factory in Pittsburg Corning, Texas.

One academic estimates that Baron & amp; Budd, along with Ness Motley, is one of two companies responsible for half of the hundreds of thousands of asbestos litigation prosecutors in the country.

Baron convinced the United States Supreme Court to classify it on the completion of national asbestos class actions involving future claims of people who have not been sick but who may later develop asbestos-related illnesses. Decritification discusses the problem that asbestos-related diseases such as pleural mesothelioma (fatal cancer in the lining of the lung) or peritoneal mesothelioma (similar cancer in the lining of the stomach), have a latent period of 20-40 years from exposure date.

In 1985, the Baron reached $ 20 million (some arguing $ 45 million after payments with interest incurred within 30 years) of agreements with RSR Corporation for one of the largest cases of lead ever contamination. In a mainly poor and minority community in West Dallas, it represents 370 children and about 40 property owners. Most of the clients live in a public housing complex in West Dallas located right on the southern wind trails carrying tin particles released in the air by RSR Corp into the lives of children in the neighborhood. However, this case did not make it to the court system. The actual agreement took place outside the court with Baron and RSR Corp. Children who benefit from Baron work receive interest including periodic payments over a period of 30 years. In 2002, Baron left Baron & amp; Budd with his wife, Lisa Blue. Baron sued his former company for breach of contract; Baron & amp; Budd counterclaimed states that Baron and Blue violate contractual, fiduciary, and legal obligations to the company by not receiving prior approval from Baron & Budd for plans to form a new company.

Political career

The Baron is an active figure in politics as a leading fundraiser for the Democratic Party and a lawyer lawyer, Sen. John Edwards. Baron was chief financial officer of Edwards' 2004 presidential campaign before taking part in the Kerry Victory committee '04, a joint effort by the Democratic National Committee and President John Kerry's campaign. Baron gave $ 1.7 million to the Texas Democratic Trust in the past two years and was deeply involved in Edwards' 2008 presidential campaign, moving to North Carolina to head the fundraiser, and renting Edwards his private Hawker 800 jet. Overall, Edwards's campaign pays Baron nearly 1.1 million dollars for this service.

The Baron jokes about the excellence that he and other court lawyers have in the Democratic Party. In a July 2002 speech, he noted the Wall Street Journal editorial that "the plaintiffs did not run the Senate at all." Baron pointed to the editorial and said, "Now I really, strongly disagree with it, especially 'all but.'"

The baron was indicated on August 8, 2008, two months before his death at the age of 61, that he had given financial assistance to the woman John Edwards having an affair with, Rielle Hunter. He claims he paid it directly, not using campaign money. [1]
