Sponsors of Educational Opportunities (SEO) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing additional educational and career support to young people from under-served communities. SEO has been the recipient of numerous awards and distinctions, including five four-star ratings by Charity Navigator, College College's Compact Innovation Awards in the College Board, and selection as one of the best-performing nonprofits in the country by the new Social Impact Exchange platform, S & amp ; I 100. Henry Kravis was elected chairman of the organization in 2014.

History

Founded in 1963 by Michael Osheowitz with a mission to provide talented and motivated young people from under-served and under-represented communities with access to excellent educational and career opportunities. SEO is one of the first mentoring and college preparatory programs for these communities in New York.

The current program model was implemented in September 2006.

In 2014, Henry Kravis was appointed chairman of the organization.

In April 2015 SEO earned more than $ 3.5 million in its annual awards dinner.

Program

Today, SEO consists of four different programs: SEO Scholarship Recipient, SEO Career, SEO Law, and Alternative SEO Investment.

Bachelor of SEO

SEO Scholars is an eight-year program that gets low-income general high school students in New York City and San Francisco to and through campus. In high school, the program provides 720 additional hours of academic instruction - equivalent to 2.5 years of additional English teaching and 1.5 years of additional math instruction on Saturdays, in the summer, and after school. In college, Scholarship Recipients receive ongoing academic, personal, and career support, one on one. The SEO Scholarship exceeds the mathematical SAT score of all the college-bound seniors, eliminates the achievement gap, and is 100% accepted in four-year colleges. SEO Career

The SEO career is the nation's premier pre-professional development program that provides Black, Hispanic, and Native American undergraduate students with the development of pre-internships, training and internship support across various business lines. The SEO career currently partners with more than 40 organizations offering summer internships, and has a 35-year track record for talents that match opportunities.

Participants receive the necessary technical training and training to compete for paid internship opportunities with an SEO partner organization in order to obtain a full-time offer at the end of an internship. The SEO Career completes this effort through two stages of the program: SEO EDGE and SEO OPEN . Through SEO EDGE , students receive a E education, D evelopment, G rowth and E xposure is needed to develop a competitive candidate ready pitch interview for targeted internship opportunities. SEO OPEN prepares apprentices for full-time offerings and becomes the best position for retention and progress through O pportunity, P reparation, E xperience and N etwork.

The SEO career was launched in 1980 and has more than 7,000 alumni to date. in 2015 and 2016, over 80% of SEO Career interns receive full-time offers from SEO partners. For more information, visit www.seocareer.org.

SEO Law

The SEO Law Fellowship is a selective program that targets Black, Hispanic, and Native American legal school students who have both outstanding promises and demonstrated achievements in their undergraduate and professional careers. The Fellowship provides exemplary student training to improve academic performance in law schools, and paid internships with leading law firms during the summer before law school. The SEO Law Fellowship is the only academic program and pre-legal internship paid for under-represented minority students in the United States.

For 30 years, the Law of SEO has served as a pipeline connecting colorful pre-law students to an elite global law firm. More than 1,300 apprentices have been through the Law Law Fellowship program since 1986, and many of our respected alumni have become successful lawyers, advocates and business leaders. Alternative SEO Investment

Alternative Investments SEO provides education, exposure, training, and mentoring opportunities for talented professionals who are historically underrepresented in alternative investment sectors. These initiatives include: Alternative Investment Investment Investment Program (AIFP); SEO Private Equity Clinic for students interested in financial careers; internships with alternative investment companies; and the Alternative SEO Investment Conference.

In 2015-16, nine Fellows are selected from 89 applicants; 129 outstanding students follow SEO Private Equity Clinic; 13 internships placed with alternative investment companies; and 500 people attended the 2016 SEO Alternative Investment Conference.
