Career and relationship with Anna Nicole Smith

The Stern law firm first handled modeling contract Anna Nicole Smith in the mid-1990s. Stern met Anna Nicole Smith in 1998, following the death of her husband J. Howard Marshall. As he fought for Marshall's fortune, Stern presented his direct examination at the hearing. Stern's law firm was disbanded around the time he became a co-star on The Anna Nicole Show (2002 - 2004). Stern maintains an apartment in Santa Monica, California, from where he runs a business called Hot Smoochie Lips, Inc., a talent agency that owns Anna Nicole Smith as a client.

On September 10, 2006, Stern was with Smith when his son, Daniel Wayne Smith, died in Nassau, Bahamas, while visiting his mother and half sister, Dannielynn. The Bahamian Police and Examination stated Daniel's death as an accidental overdose on antidepressants and methadone. No cheating involved. On September 28, 2006, Stern and Smith exchanged wedding vows in a non-legally binding ceremony in Nassau, Bahamas. The ceremony was inaugurated by a Baptist minister.

Smith died on February 8, 2007, less than five months after Daniel. According to a Florida court that oversees his property, Smith leaves it all to Daniel in 16 pages that will name Stern as Estate's implementer.

On February 21, 2007, the hearing began at the Broward County Circuit Court of Florida over the disposition of the remains of Smith. Rejecting motions by Smith's mother Virgie Arthur and Stern, the judge granted custody of Smith's body to her infant daughter, Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern through lawyer Richard Milstein, whose judge designated her baby as a baby guardian's liteme. Smith is buried next to Daniel in the Bahamas.

Dad's dispute

On September 26, 2006, Stern claimed in an interview with Larry King on CNN that he was Dannielynn's father; celebrity photographer Larry Birkhead also claims that he is Dannielynn's father. The Bahamian-born certificate lists his daughters name as Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern with Howard K. Stern as father.

On February 9, 2007, following the death of Anna Nicole Smith, it was revealed that Stern had custody of the son of Smith, Dannielynn. Father Prinz von Anhalt, husband of actress Zsa Zsa Gabor accused him of being the father of Smith's daughter and threatened to file a lawsuit for prisoners. On 10 April 2007, the Bahamas court was determined from DNA evidence filed by a DNA expert designated by the court of Dr. Michael L. Baird that Larry Birkhead was the father of Dannielynn. Stern announced that he would not oppose the decision and would help Birkhead gain sole custody. The court ordered Stern to pay $ 10,000 in court costs for an abandoned appeal.

Prosecution of conspiracy

On March 13, 2009, the California Attorney General and the Los Angeles District Attorney announced that they would sue Stern, Dr. Sandeep Kapoor and Dr. Khristine Eroshevich conspired to "commit a crime of prescribing, organizing, and removing substances controlled to addicts." They were not charged with causing Smith's death in 2007.

The trial begins August 4, 2010, in Los Angeles. Stern, Dr. Eroshevich, and Dr. Sandeep Kapoor pleaded not guilty. Attorney Renee Rose read from Kapoor's journal about an alleged unlawful contact with Smith. Stern's lawyer, Steven Sadow, said his client relied on good faith on the medical judgment of Smith's doctor about what was true and necessary for his chronic pain.

On October 28, 2010, Stern and Dr. Eroshevich was found guilty, but Kapoor was freed. On January 6, 2011, judge Robert Perry dismissed Stern's conviction, showing no evidence was put forward to prove that Stern intends to break the law by using a pseudonym to protect Smith's privacy. A single, standing conviction, a charge of fraud crime against Dr. Eroshevich, reduced to minor crimes; he was ordered to serve twelve months of probation, and pay a $ 100 fine.

On July 22, 2015, Perry dismissed allegations of crime against Stern for the second time. In his decision, Perry exclaimed, "the case is unfair," adding that he believes the prosecutor "appears to have targeted Stern unfairly because he is a public figure" and notes that the trial has burdened taxpayers in excess of $ 500,000. "Howard Stern has just gone through enough... I find there is no reason to allow this case to go forward," Los Angeles Superior Court judge Robert J. Perry told reporters.

Lawsuits of slander and defamation â € <â € <

L. Lin Wood is the primary lawyer for Stern in a lawsuit against Rita Cosby; lawyer John O'Quinn representing Smith's mother Virgie Arthur and a libel suit filed by Virgie Arthur whose lawsuit was dismissed before the trial in 2010 after TMZ Productions, CBS, Stern and other defendants won a summary appraisal. Wood represents Stern as Smith's Estate executive in federal action against developer G. Ben Thompson of South Carolina, son-in-law of Ford Shelley Jr., Susan M. Brown, Esq. for misuse and theft of inheritance.

Rita Cosby's journalist allegedly in his book, Blonde Ambition: The Awesome Story behind The Death of Anna Nicole Smith , released on September 4, 2007, that Smith's sitter revealed that sex tapes existed from Stern and former rival Larry Birkhead was involved in a homosexual relationship. However, a lawyer for caregivers threatened to file a lawsuit, claiming that the caregiver never spoke of such a meeting between Stern and Birkhead. After Stern filed a $ 60 million lawsuit against Cosby and its publisher in October 2007, a nanny spokeswoman admitted Cosby had offered a bribe in a failed attempt to contact the caregiver.

In July 2009, in a court hearing on whether to cancel the lawsuit, Stern's lawyer claimed that in the deposition of the lawsuit, Cosby admitted there was no video recording and could not prove any other allegations. Cosby replied to Stern's suit by saying "... we are solid on our facts more than ever... we are confident with what we have." In a Cosby video deposition awarded in $ 60 million slander according to Stern, Cosby said the source for the gay sex tape was private investigator Don Clark of Houston and his partner, Wilma Vicedomine. They are employed by lawyer John O'Quinn who represents Virgie Arthur. O'Quinn has used the same strategy previously in corporate litigation, death by a thousand injuries, L. Lin Wood explains.

In August 2009, federal judge Denny Chin ruled that "Cosby's actions were very disturbing, and showed that he was trying to impede justice by damaging the witness" and allowing most of Stern's $ 60 million lawsuit against Cosby and his publisher , Hachette, continued. Three months later, the lawsuit was withdrawn as settled, but no information was released on the court settlement provisions.
