James G. Sokolove (born October 4, 1944) is an American lawyer known for advertising legal services on television. Although he was the largest legal advertiser in the United States in 2007, the Sokolove company only acts as a major generator and is not currently trying the case.

The son of a personal injury lawyer, Sokolove grew up in Revere, Massachusetts. He received a B.A. from Case Western Reserve University in 1966 and a juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School in 1969. He also received a certificate in 1990 from Harvard Business School. When Sokolove's father was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, he took over where his father led a family law firm. After a few years, law firms begin to face increasing debt and separation. Failure that makes Sokolove looking for new ways to get clients through television advertising. The first ad Sokolove, featuring a car accident filmed in slow motion, aired in 1982.

His advertising tactics were initially criticized by renowned Boston lawyers but proved successful. Overwhelmed by the inclusion of clients, he began referring clients to affiliated law firms for a portion of the legal costs they generate. The strategy was profitable enough that he told the Boston Business Journal in 1999 that with his law firm franchise he would "do what Staples does for office products."

The Sokolove law office now consists of 80 employees and more than 300 affiliated companies in the United States. In 2011, his colleagues have surpassed $ 1 billion in fees from their operations in every US state. The Sokolove company hardly ever filed a lawsuit. Almost completely depends on the cost of referrals.

He is known for his controversial style of advertising, which he describes as following a specific formula that leads to "Luka? Free money." On top of the Mystery Elie Law calls it "an unabashed ambulance chaser." Sokolove does not handle the case itself. He hardly ever went into the courtroom, and he lost the only case he ever debated in front of the jury. Sokolove is a major supporter of the Democrats, having donated more than $ 250,000 in the last 10 years. During the 2008 presidential election he participated in door to door canvassing on behalf of Barack Obama.

In 2009, the Sokolove company operated about 30 websites such as bulletin boards to discuss injuries and forums for caregivers.
