Founded in 1976, and operating through Taft University System (William Howard Taft University), Taft Law School is a distance education, online law school based in Santa Ana, California. Offers Juris Doctor (JD.) and Master of Law (LL.M.) law degree programs.
The California State Bar The Committee of Bar Examiners has enrolled Taft Law School as a "unaccredited registered correspondence law school." Thus, graduates must pass the First Year Student Law Exam (Baby Bar) in order to be eligible for the Bar Bar California Exam.

The school was accredited in 2003, and recredited in 2013 (with a review scheduled for 2018) by the Accreditation Commission for Distance Education.
Schools are not accredited by the American Bar Association or the State Bar of California.

Taft Law School is an institutional member of the Higher Education Accreditation Council (CHEA) and the American Council on Education (ACE). Taft Law School is also a member of the Computer Assisted Law Instruction Center (CALI).

Bar pass rate
During the last ten administrations of the California State Bar Examination, 199 graduates have taken the exam and 43 have graduated (graduation rate 21.6%).
In recent years, the school has done the test unreasonably. In July 2015, 6 graduates took the California Bar Examination for the first time and no one graduated. In the administration of the same exam, 15 graduates are repeat participants, and only one person passes. In February 2015, a total of 21 graduates took the exam (15 recurring participants) and only 7 graduated. In July 2014, 22 graduates took exams (11 repeat participants) and 3 graduated.
