Sinopsis
While investigating the undercover world of illegal doping in sport, Bryan Fogel connects with Russian scientists. Grigory Rodchenkov, director of Russia's national anti-doping laboratory. Rodchenkov made plans for Fogel to take illicit performance enhancement drugs in a way that would avoid detection of drug testing, aiding the Fogel experiment to prove that the way athletes are currently tested for inadequate drugs. As Fogel continued his training, he and Rodchenkov became friends, and Rodchenkov finally revealed that Russia had a state sponsored Olympic doping program that he watched. When alleged in the international media about the possibility of such a program, Fogel realized that Rodchenkov was in danger of being "silenced" by the Russian government and had him fly to Los Angeles for his protection. Using Rodchenkov's knowledge of the doping program, they spoke to the US Justice Department as well as the New York Times, alleging that Russia had conspired for an affair in the Olympics for decades, and he was hired to operate after the embarrassing performance of the Russian team at 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. In front of the camera, Rodchenkov testified that at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, with the help of the Federal Security Service, he and his team replaced stained urine steroids from the Russian national team with a clean sample, avoiding positive detection. He provides spreadsheets, discs, e-mails and more incriminating evidence about Russian involvement, forcing the World Anti-Doping Agency and the International Olympic Committee to investigate. After an independent WADA investigation (McLaren Report) confirms Rodchenkov's claim, US Law Enforcement puts him in custody of protection. Rodchenkov's lawyer, Jim Walden, appeared briefly in a film depicting threats to Rodchenkov's life and suspicious deaths from two Rodchenkov colleagues. The film ends by stating that the Russian government continues to deny having been involved with the program and that Rodchenkov remains in custody of protection.
