Andrew W. "Andy" Goodell (born December 1, 1954) is an American politician elected to the New York State Assembly in 2010. He is a Republican. Previously, Goodell was the Chautauqua District Executive of New York. Goodell represents the 150th Assembly District, which is numerically the last, and geographically the most western, of the 150 districts of the Assembly and, at redistricting 2012, parallel to the boundaries of the Chautauqua Territory.
Goodell is a partner of Goodell & amp; Rankin. Previously, he served as a District Executive for eight years. Goodell announced his intention to run for the ruling Democratic parliamentarian William Parment in the summer of 2010. After Parment dropped his re-election bid, Democrats elected former local legislator and frequent candidate Nancy Bargar as opposed to Goodell, who left Goodell in November 2010.
Goodell is a graduate of magna cum laude from Cornell Law School, where he received the American Jurisprudence Award for Administrative Law and a member of the Cornell Law Review. He also has a degree in political and mathematical economics from Williams College. He is a member of the Goodell family, whose members also include former US senator Charles Goodell and current National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell.
