Rodney Scott Melville is the presiding judge at the Santa Barbara County high court. He is best known for being a judge in the 2005 child molestation test of Michael Jackson, where Jackson was released.

Biography
Melville was born in 1941 and studied at San Diego State University and Hastings College of the Law, University of California.
Melville, now living in Sacramento, California, is a lawyer for the Melville & amp; Iwasko and became a State Certified Specialist in Family Law. He served as Deputy District Attorney at the San Bernardino District Prosecutor's Office for two years.
In 1987, Melville was appointed to the Court of Bench Court in 1987. After three years he was promoted to the Court of Appeal.
Melville retired as a judge for the High Court in 2007, after serving a 17-year sentence.
People v. Jackson
In 2005, Michael Jackson was accused of harassment by a 13-year-old boy. The case was filed to the court and Melville was appointed the presiding judge. Prior to the start of the trial, Melville banned the camera from the courtroom, posted silence orders on both sides and oversaw the three-day jury selection procedure.
