The Law Faculty of Northwestern Pritzker University is one of the professional graduate schools at Northwestern University, located in Chicago, Illinois. Northwestern Law is a member of the "T-14", a prestigious group of 14 law schools that enjoy national recognition.
The Law School enrolled about 985 students at J.D., LL.M., S.J.D. and M.S.L. (Master of Science in Law) program. The school employs an interdisciplinary research faculty, and has a low student-faculty ratio. History
Founded in 1859, the school to be known as Northwestern Pritzker Law School is the first law school established in the city of Chicago. The Law School was originally the Legal Department of the Old University of Chicago and enrolled twenty-three students. The law school became Union College of Law when it was affiliated with Northwestern University in 1873. In 1891, the Law School formally became Northwestern University Law School when Northwestern assumed total control. Throughout the 20th century, programs such as the JD-MBA and JD-PhD were added to maintain the Law School's position as one of America's leading law schools. In October 2015, officially renamed Northwestern Pritzker Law School after J.B. Pritzker and his wife, M.K. Pritzker, gave $ 100 million to significantly advance the Mission School's mission and vision.

Northwestern Law is located on the downtown Northwestern University campus in the Chicago Streeterville/Gold Coast neighborhood. The Law School is on Lake Shore Drive and Chicago Avenue, adjacent to Lake Shore Park and Lake Michigan, and blocks from John Hancock Center, Magnificent Mile, Water Tower, Oak Street Beach and Navy Pier.
The location of the Law School in the heart of downtown Chicago provides a wide selection of part-time jobs for students when in school and a spectacular setting for legal learning. Proximity to courts, commerce, and public interest activities allow students to experience legal practice, as well as his theory, in one of the world's most vibrant legal and business communities.

Entrance to Northwestern Law is very competitive. For classes entering in autumn 2016, 821 of the 4070 applicants (20%) offered entry, with 213 matriculating. The percentages of GPA 25 and 75 were 3.43 and 3.89, respectively, with a median of 3.81.
The practical philosophy of the Faculty of Law is manifested in a strong preference for applicants with at least two years of work experience. About 90% of school students enter with at least one year of full-time work experience; 70% have more than two years experience. In this case, Northwestern Law is similar to many business schools.

Northwestern Journal of International Law & amp; Business
The Journal of International Law and Business has a substantive focus on private international law, which is contrary to public international law or human rights. It seeks scholarships to analyze the problems of transnational and international law and its effects on private entities. Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology
The School states that Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology "is one of the most widely read and widely quoted publications in the world". This is the second most publicized journal by law school in the country. This is one of the most widely circulated journals in the country. The journal was founded in 1910 by Dean John Henry Wigmore.

The Journal of Laws and Social Policy is an interdisciplinary journal that explores the legal impact on various aspects of society. Topics covered include race, gender, sexual orientation, housing, immigration, health care, juvenile justice, voting rights, family law, civil rights, poverty, the environment, and the right to privacy.
Journal of Human Rights
The Journal of Human Rights is an interdisciplinary journal dedicated to providing a dynamic forum for discussions on human rights and legal issues. Journals seek contributions from experienced professionals, scholars and field workers from every background, including but not limited to law, business, political science, public policy, economics, sociology, religion, and international relations. In addition to publications, Journal seeks to promote discussion of human rights law by organizing the semi-annual Symposium and Speaker Series. The Journal of Human Rights was founded in 2003 as the International Journal of Human Rights, but adopted its present name in 2016 to better reflect its focus.
Pritzker Legal Research Center
The Pritzker Law Research Center meets the research and information needs of Northwestern Law faculty and students. The center is named after the Pritzker family, the Chicago philanthropist family. Jay A. Pritzker (1922-1999) graduated from Northwestern University in 1941 and Northwestern University School of Law in 1947.
Bluhm Law Clinic
Clinical education at Northwestern dates back to the start of the Law School. The innovative program developed by Dean John Henry Wigmore in 1910 with the Chicago Legal Aid Institute evolved into the Legal Clinic, which opened its doors in 1969 with only two staff attorneys. In 2000, the Clinic was named for Northwestern University guardian and Neil Bluhm alum. Currently, Bluhm Legal Clinic has more than 20 clinics in 14 centers and is widely recognized as one of the most comprehensive and effective clinical programs in the country. Through the Faculty of Law's clinical program, students gain hands-on experience representing clients and refining their skills as advocates. They also work with clinical faculty and staff to challenge the justice of our legal institutions and to propose solutions for reform.

Center on Wrongful Convictions (CWC) is dedicated to identifying and correcting false beliefs. The Center investigates the possibility of false beliefs and represents clients who are imprisoned with actual innocent claims. It also focuses on raising public awareness about the prevalence, causes, and social costs of false beliefs and encouraging reform of the criminal justice system.
Advocacy Center Appeal
Advocacy Center includes Federal Appellate Clinic and Supreme Court Clinic. The Federal Appellate Clinic allows third-year students to obtain temporary legal licenses and debate cases before the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Students in this clinic spend a full year representing the criminal offender, from eligibility to oral arguments.
The Supreme Court Clinic allows students to act as litigator of the Supreme Court in partnership with lawyers in Sidley Austin, including Northwestern Law alumnus Carter Phillips, who has debated more cases before the Supreme Court than any other lawyer while in private practice.
Child and Family Justice Center
The Center for Child and Family Justice represents youth in issues of delinquency and crime, family violence, school discipline, health and disability, immigration and asylum. Lawyers, social workers and affiliated professionals help second and third year law students meet clients, legal research issues, learn pretrial investigations, interviews and counseling skills, and file lawsuits.
MacArthur Justice Center
The MacArthur Justice Center focuses its work on police offenses, wrong detention compensation, post-9/11 employment, and issues of public interest and other civil rights. Of particular note are representatives of Guantanamo Bay prisoners led by Joseph Margulies, author of Guantanamo and Abuse of Presidential Power and the main counselor in Apostle v. Bush .
The Donald Pritzker Entrepreneurship Law Center (DPELC), established as a Small Business Opportunity Center (SBOC), is a transactional clinic established in 1998. Clients include technology executives, consultants, inventors, producers and sellers of consumer products, music groups, people interested in setting up a nonprofit organization.
The center is also deeply involved in teaching in the field of entrepreneurship law, and hosting symposiums and conferences to facilitate the effort.
International Center for Human Rights
The International Center for Human Rights works to advance human rights while allowing students to test and perfect their academic learning in real cases. Emphasizing a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach, the center provides policy perspective to the United Nations, Organization of American States, US State Department, foreign governments, and non-governmental organizations. For many years, faculty and staff working in the center have discussed, among other things, the role of the International Criminal Court, international terrorism, US death penalty, truth commissions, economic rights, NATO humanitarian interventions and cases political asylum. Students have investigated cases and underwent summer internships in Guatemala, Indonesia, and at the United Nations Center for Human Rights in Geneva.
The center also offers students the opportunity to earn LLM in Human Rights. This degree program is designed for students from transitional democracies and for those who have a career interest in international human rights law.
Investor Protection Center
The Investor Protection Center provides assistance to investors with limited incomes or small dollar claims that can not obtain legal representation. Law students, under the supervision of faculty lawyers, represent customers in handling their disputes with broker-dealers.
Over the past few years, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and other organizations have taken steps to make more information and services available to investors. Northwestern Law Investments Protection Center operates with grants from the FINRA Investor Education Foundation and other organizations to focus on priority areas. In particular, the Center is focused on helping meet the needs of women, novice investors, and parents, in connection with securities arbitration.
Fred Bartlit Center for Trial Advocacy
Named in honor of innovative leaders in litigation and business strategy, the Fred Bartlit Center for Trial Advocacy was founded in 1999 to research and teach experiential strategies that are innovative and technologically advanced. The Bartlit Center focuses on changes in experimental craft brought about by new technologies and compensation approaches.
Bartlit Center sponsors and conducts academic research on litigation processes; support teaching skills in JD programs; and organizes national conferences to explore and teach experiential and experimental management strategies and experiments. The Bartlit Center works to complement the Law School program in simulated teaching and experimental skills based on research produced by Northwestern Law faculty.
