Gary Michael Cole (born September 20, 1956) is an American voice actor and actor. Cole started his professional acting career on stage at the Chicago Steppenwolf Theater Company in 1985. On television, he has been instrumental in the Midnight Caller series, the Gothic America, the Crusades, The Good Wife , Veep and, most recently, The Good Fight . In the movie, Cole has appeared on The Brady Bunch Movie , One Hour Photo , Office Room , Dodgeball , and Talladega Nights . Cole is also known for voicing the title character of Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law, and is Dr. James Timothy Possible on Kim Possible .

Cole started his professional career in 1983 as a stage actor in Chicago, where he joined the ensemble of the Steppenwolf Theater Company in 1985. In his early role, Cole served as the killer of three defendants Capt Army Jeffrey MacDonald in mini-series Fatal Vision . Cole also appeared in several productions outside Broadway in New York City. He has done voice work on several animated series ( Family Guy ; Kim Possible ; Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law ; Archer ) and has a recurring role in drama The West Wing as Vice President Bob Russell. He also starred as Captain Matthew Gideon on the Babylon 5 spin-off Crusade, and has a famous guest appearance at Law & amp; Order: Special Victim Unit and Development Arrested . He also plays Joe Maxwell at DCOM Cadet Kelly and appears as a real-life Edgar Mitchell astronaut in the Apollo HBO Apollo recreation, From Earth to the Moon . One of his most prominent roles in 1991 was as General Custer in the highly acclaimed television film Son of the Morning Star.
Between 1988 and 1991, Cole became popular on TV to play the Killian "Killian Nighthawk" section of the Midnight Caller series. In 1999, Cole starred in the Office Space film, where he described the inspector of Bill Lumbergh's sadistic office. When asked about the frequently quoted character, Cole said:

Cole starred as Lt. Conrad Rose on the TNT Wanted series, he is also the voice of the title character on the Adult Swim Harvey Birdman, Law Attorneys series, and starred as Sheriff Lucas Buck during a season of 1995 , Gothic America . Cole also appeared in the movies Talladega Nights , Forever Strong , and American Pastime .
Cole plays ex-husband of Katherine Mayfair, Wayne, on Desperate Housewives and recently played Ted Jones's dangerous headline on Pineapple Express with Seth Rogen and James Franco. She also appeared on the episode of the third season of the USA Network Psych series as S.W.A.T. commander Cameron Luntz. Cole also plays Bill Owens, boss of Sy Parrish (Robin Williams), in the movie One Hour Photo .
In 2008, Cole appeared on Chuck as a fraudster of Sarah (in "Chuck Versus DeLorean"), a role he changed in 2011 (in "Chuck Versus Wedding Planner"). He also appeared in the fifth season of HBO Entourage plays Ari Six's old friend Andrew Klein for a 3 episode story before joining a regular player in the sixth season.
Cole has a guest appearance during the fourth season of the HBO True Blood series, portraying Sookie Stackhouse's grandfather.
In 2011, Cole joined the Fox Tagged comedy pilot, but the series was not taken.
In 2013, Cole started a recurring role in Settings as Cameron Dennis, former mentor of Harvey Specter, one of the main characters of the event. Also in 2013, Cole started a major recurring role as Kent Davison on the HBO comedy series Veep , and has appeared throughout the second, third, fourth, and fifth seasons of the show. In 2014, he was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Extraordinary Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his work in the third season.
Cole is currently casting Sergeant Boscoe's on Bob's Burgers and Principal Shepherd on Family Guy .
Personal life
Cole married actress Teddi Siddall on March 8, 1992. Their daughter, Mary, is pursuing an acting career. On June 19, 2017, the couple announced that they were divorced. Cole is an active Democrat.
