Although the definition may vary by jurisdiction, the seizure consultant generally means any person who makes a request, represents, or offers to the owner to compensate or who, to compensate, perform any service that the person is in the way whatever represents will in any way do the following:

1. Stop or post a foreclosure sale.
2. Get any patience from the recipient or the recipient of the credit.
3. Help the owner to use recovery rights.
4. Get any renewal from the period in which the owner can recover his/her obligations.
5. Earn exceptions from the acceleration clause contained in the agreement or contract guaranteed by a trust or mortgage deed on the place of residence in foreclosure or contained in any trust or mortgage deed.
6. Help the owner to get a loan or down payment.
7. Avoid or fix damages to owner credits resulting from default notification records or foreclosure sale behavior.
8. Save owner's residence from foreclosure.

In some jurisdictions a foreclosure consultant must be licensed by the government.
