Concordia University is a Lutheran, private, non-profit liberal arts university, in Portland, Oregon, USA. Opened in 1905 as a university prep school, it added college classes in 1950 and junior high schools formally split up in 1977. The school of some 5,400 undergraduate and graduate students affiliated with the Lutheran-Missouri Church Synod and System Concordia University. Located in Northeast Portland, this school also has a branch campus in Oregon and operates the Concordia University Law School in Boise, Idaho. The university has four colleges and eighteen majors. His athletics team, known as the Cavaliers, is currently competing in the NCAA Northwest Athletics Conference at the Second Division level.

Concordia Academy was founded in 1905 by the growing Lutheran community in the Pacific Northwest to meet the needs of pastors and parochial school teachers. The school added a junior college in 1950 and in 1968 the women were first admitted to Concordia High School. In 1962, Concordia was accredited by the Northwest Schools and Colleges Association.
In 1977, an association of local Lutheran churches, the Portland Lutheran Association for Christian Education, took over ownership and middle school management. At the moment, Concordia split from high school and became a four-year institution, graduating the first bachelor's student in 1980. Concordia College became Concordia University in 1995 and converted to a semester calendar. The following year the school added a master's degree in teaching and education, followed by the Master of Business Administration program in 2001. In 2002, a master's degree in education became Concordia's first program to also be fully online.
The University added a nursing degree in 2005 and then started College of Health and Human Services in 2007. The nursing program is the first new program in the state within 40 years. In 2009, Concordia started a program to award a bachelor's degree in music. By 2012, enrollment in private schools is about 3,100, almost double its registration over the past five years.
The Faculty of Law of Concordia University is located in Boise, Idaho, and passed the first class of students in August 2015. Former Idaho Supreme Court Judge Cathy Silak is dean of law school.
The school moved its athletic teams from the Cascade Collegiate NAIA Conference to the NCAA Division II level competing in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference from autumn 2015.

Campus
Located in Northeast Portland in the Concordia neighborhood, the university is located on a 13 acre (5.3 hectare) campus near Route 30 Bypass AS (Lombard Street). George R. White Library & amp; Learning Center, a $ 15 million, 75,000 square foot (7,000 m 2 ) structure, opened across the green campus in 2009. Concordia University contains four undergraduate colleges: Higher Education, School of Management, College of Health and Human Services, and College of Arts and Sciences. Athletics
The Concordia-Oregon team, dubbed athletic as the Cavaliers, is part of the National Athletic Association Association (NCAA), mainly competing in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC). Men's sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, football, and track & amp; field; while women's sports include basketball, soccer, cross country, golf, softball, track & amp; field and volleyball.
The color of the official school is the Navy and White. In 2012, Concordia opened a new athletic complex, Hilken Community Stadium, which was built at a cost of $ 7.5 million. The stadium is respectfully referred to as "Tuominen Yard" when set for football use and as "Porter Park" for baseball and softball.
Concordia has been noted for the consistent success of his athletic team, "The Navy", over the last few decades. Both male and female football have established their courses with degrees at conferences, regional and national levels. And Birkey has been training men's programs for over 30 years and Grant Landy leads a women's team of over 22 years. Together with a successful football team, the Cavaliers golf team dominated their previous NAIA conferences as well, with the men winning 13 of the 13 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) titles since it was founded in 1997. They are also champions of the Cavalier 2016 Act.
